A song adapted from a poem my father wrote nearly 50 years ago to remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.

Lyrics

As Christmas day approaches,
with all that we must do,
we somehow lose perspective,
of it's meaning, pure and true.

Our days are spent in shopping,
our nights in chores undone,
we somehow take for granted,
it's the birthday of God's son.

Now we ask the father's blessing,
on all we love and do,
to grant in His benevolence,
Christmas all year through.

We show our love to others,
by the presents that we give,
so why not to the Christ Child,
by the way in which we live?

To love all men as brothers,
to share all that we are,
is to live our lives as wise men,
and to follow Heaven's star.

Now we ask the father's blessing,
on all we love and do,
to grant in His benevolence,
Christmas all year through.

So in this time of sharing,
when love and joy abound.
please don't forget Christ's birthday,
let us reverently kneel down.

So to those of us here gathered,
our task is very clear,
to spread God's "Love thy" message,
throughout the coming year.

Now we ask the father's blessing,
on all we love and do,
to grant in His benevolence,
Christmas all year through.
